St. Mel School admits students of any race, color and national or ethnic origin. Students who are parishioners of St. Mel and Divine Savior parishes receive admission priority. In addition, priority will be given to siblings of St. Mel School students. Grades One through Eight – Parents must complete a New Family Registration Form for any student applying to grades One through Eight. An entrance assessment is given to interested students upon completing the New Family form to verify appropriate grade placement and to determine whether St. Mel School can meet the needs of the transfer student. Copies of recent report cards and standardized tests will be requested for review.
Incoming Kindergartners must be 5 years old by September 1st and developmentally ready for Kindergarten. Parents of students with a birthday before November 1 may also apply. Parents of any student applying for Kindergarten must complete a New Family Registration Form. An entrance assessment is administered to all applicants to help determine individual readiness. Transitional Kindergarten (TK)
Since TK is designed to be a bonus year before Kindergarten, our TK students are mix of summer, fall and winter birthdays. Some TK incoming students have already had their 5th birthday and others will turn 5 years old in September, October, November and December. Parents of any student applying for TK must complete a New Family Registration Form.

Campus tours are available anytime with a reservation. Please call the school office at 916-967-2814 or e-mail email@example.com to set up an appointment. These tours run approximately thirty minutes and are for prospective students and parents. You will have an opportunity to learn more about student life and how St. Mel School integrates faith with academic excellence and meet the school principal, Mrs. Janet Nagel. She will be able to answer all your questions regarding admission criteria, Student Learning Expectations, curriculum standards, financial aid, before and after school care, student clubs, athletics, technology, fine arts, etc.
